Moran Studios is a small independent digital studio based in the Cairngorm National Park in Scotland. We work primarily with outdoor, community-led and purpose-driven organisations and we recognise the importance of reducing environmental impact within our work.

As a one-person studio our footprint is relatively low. However we believe sustainability is not just about size but about awareness responsibility and continual improvement. This statement outlines our current approach and our commitment to doing better over time.

Our approach to sustainability:
 

We take a practical and proportionate approach to sustainability that reflects the scale of our business. Rather than making claims we cannot measure we focus on everyday decisions that meaningfully reduce impact. Our aim is steady progress not perfection.
 

How we currently reduce our impact:

• Digital first working - Our work is delivered almost entirely online which significantly reduces travel printing and physical materials.

• Home-based studio - Operating from a home office reduces commuting emissions and avoids the environmental cost of maintaining dedicated office space.

• Efficient website builds - We design clear well-structured websites that prioritise performance usability and longevity. Avoiding unnecessary complexity helps reduce data transfer server load and digital waste over time.

• Thoughtful use of platforms and tools - We are aware that digital platforms hosting and software all carry an environmental cost. While we do not control the infrastructure behind many of the tools we use we aim to work with established platforms that operate at scale and continue to invest in efficiency. We regularly review the tools and systems we rely on and remove or replace those that are no longer necessary.

• Minimal physical waste - Our work involves very limited physical resources with minimal use of consumables or printed materials.

We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing process. As Moran Studios grows we are committed to regularly reviewing how we work and where improvements can be made.
